Wishing Well Jim Ryan, 2011
Some folks live their life under a magic spell
While others cast their fortune, into every wishing well
Hoping for the longshot; the path smooth, and all downhill
Happiness created, through an impressive force of will
But that’s not life
That’s not quite living
That’s just giving up control
Stumble through another day
That’s not life
But you’re forgiven
‘Cause half the world seems to think
Exactly the same way
Wish I had an answer to what would make a dream come true
Not to wish upon a bar, as some lonely people do
Oh to have the gift of vision, read what’s written on the soul
Striving spends our youth, waiting makes us old
Oh to have the wisdom, to accept things as they are
Resolve to do your best with what turns up in the cards
Some folks live their life under a magic spell
While others cast their fortune, into every wishing well
